Another Council opportunity!

49th annual DCCW convention to be held in Marshall

by Mary Karnitz

The 49th Annual Diocesan Council of Catholic Women Convention will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2007, at Holy Redeemer School in Marshall, MN. This year’s convention theme is taken from John 6:68…Lord to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life."

Keynote, Dr. Ray Guarendi, will address the topic, "You’re a Better Teacher Than You Think!"

Dr. Guarendi is a father, clinical psychologist, and author. He has worked with school districts, Head Start programs, mental health centers, substance abuse programs, in-patient psychiatric centers, juvenile courts, and private practice. He’s been a guest on national radio and television and appeared on regional shows in more than forty states and in Canada. Dr. Guarendi also hosts his own national radio show and writes a syndicated parenting column.

During the convention, the Diocesan CCW will take a collection for personal items and monetary donations for women's shelters. Additionally, the Holy Mass collection will be given to the seminarian aid fund to be used for special needs, the recipient of the Council of Catholic Woman of the Year Award will be announced, and after an appetizing sit-down lunch, the afternoon will feature an opportunity for Q & A

regarding church-related topics with Msgr. Eugene Lozinski, Diocesan Council of Catholic Women moderator.

The day will also allow for "shopping" at a silent auction from 7:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Participants will also have time to browse the booths and displays which include the six commissions and two committees that make up the Council of Catholic Women. The convention will conclude at 2:30 p.m. with closing prayers for vocations followed by Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.

The Council of Catholic Women is the result of – not the reason for – our relationship with Jesus. What unites us begins with finding the image of Jesus in each other and His Body in the Church. So, dear friends, united through our friendship with Jesus and one another, allow yourselves to embrace this opportunity to attend the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women Convention on Saturday, April 28. Come! Share our faith and celebrate all that God has enabled us to do through our Council of Catholic Women mission of prayer, study, and service.
