Winsted community to inaugurate Christian Music Festival proceeds go towards support of local Catholic school

Winsted, MN -  Music lovers from the upper Midwest have a new concert choice this summer as the Higher Ground Music Festival debuts August 19-20. Renowned artist Michael W. Smith and nine other national acts will be featured at the brand new Christian music and camping event located in Winsted.

The Higher Ground Music Festival offers an easy, two-day getaway filled with great music, sports activities and tasty festival foods. Reserved camping is being offered which  includes two vehicle passes per site.

"Summer time in the Midwest is precious and sometimes a multi-day event doesn’t fit people’s plans," said Rev. Paul Wolf, pastor of the Church of the Holy Trinity in Winsted and Higher Ground committee leader.  "Other festivals have grown into large-scale productions and people can get lost in the crowd. We want them to get lost in the music offering a more relaxed and casual atmosphere."

Concertgoers will experience an incredible blend of music. Friday’s line-up features Sanctus Real, BarlowGirl, The O.C. Supertones, Sara Groves and culminates with Smith’s headline performance. Saturday features Fusebox, Tait, Tree63, FFH and Rebecca St. James will put her signature on this inaugural festival.

Higher Ground will also host several activities including three-on-three basketball and six-person volleyball tournaments. Many great food and merchandise vendors will serve up the best in festival fare.

Winsted is home to the popular Winstock Country Music Festival, now in it’s 12th year. Like Winstock, the Higher Ground Music Festival is organized and staffed entirely by volunteers, with proceeds supporting Holy Trinity Catholic school education.

A two-day pass for the event is $45 until June 1 and is $52 thereafter. Camping passes are $30 for up to six people and include two vehicle passes. Processing, shipping and handling fees are all included in the ticket price. Purchase tickets online at www.hgmusicfest.com or by phone toll-free at (866) 821-5151. Tickets are also available at any Northwestern Bookstore location around the Twin Cities.
