SSND’s recipients of Business Hall of Fame award

Mankato - On March 3, 2005, the School Sisters of Notre Dame received the Business Hall of Fame award from the Mankato Area Chamber and Convention Bureau. Wells Fargo Bank of Mankato nominated the School Sisters of Notre Dame, which is the first nonprofit to receive the award.

“This award is an opportunity to acknowledge the many special people who participate in the vision and mission of the School Sisters of Notre Dame in so many ways,” said Sister Catherine Bertrand, SSND as she accepted the award.

The Mankato Area Business Hall of Fame was established by the Mankato Area Chamber of Commerce to honor special businesses and individuals in the community for contributions to jobs, improving the quality of life in the area, economic and community development and the spirit of entrepreneurship. This award is a result of SSND’s commitment to help the community become a better place to work and live.

The School Sisters of Notre Dame have served Greater Mankato for over 100 years, providing quality education, numerous jobs, and substantial economic impact through the operation of its large campus on Good Counsel Hill in Mankato. Community members are positively impacted through the many programs offered by the SSND’s  and staff including: tutoring to over 200 parochial and public students each year; transitional housing for homeless families and single women through Theresa House; and spiritual support and advocacy to farmers through the Center for Earth Spirituality and Rural Ministry.
