Parish Lenten Renewal reflects ‘a symphony of the Catholic faith’

The Worship and Spiritual Life Committee of Our Lady of the Lakes, Spicer, offered a Lenten Renewal February 13-17, 2005. The theme titled “The Symphony of Our Faith” is based on the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Father Lon Konold OMI, of the Missionary Oblates of Willimantic, CT, directed the mission. (The Missionary Oblates also have the Kings House in Buffalo, MN.).

Like the four movements of a symphony, the four divisions of the Catechism are interconnected. Father Lon’s presentation on day one and two centered on God and what God has revealed to us in Jesus Christ. Day three was remembering and celebrating the Pascal Mystery in the sacraments. Day four was a call to holiness, living a moral life. The evening included a celebration of the Sacrament of Reconciliation. In addition to those attending regularly were the high school faith formation classes of St. Anthony’s, Regal and Our Lady of the Lakes. Four priest were available for individual confessions. Day five centered on prayer and how we respond to our deepest need to be one with God by living the attitude Jesus taught us.

Each day began with the celebration of the Eucharist and homily, followed by a talk and refreshments in the gathering area. The afternoon offered a Holy Hour and the evening session included a meaningful service that included music and prayer centered on the evenings topic.
