On a ‘Mission of Love’

money raised in Tracy and Glencoe support mission parish

Tracy - A mission group, formed through the International Concerns Commission of the Council of Catholic Women of St. Mary’s parish spent time making hundreds of valentines and raising money for the Mission of Love Valentine Project sponsored by the San Lucas Mission Extension Office. Donations benefit the Diocese of New Ulm Mission Parish in San Lucas Toliman, Guatemala. Children, widows, and the physically disabled from San Lucas exchange the valentines for corn, beans, rice, and school supplies. The colorful creations included  messages of God’s love along with pictures. Money collected has amounted to $1,623.

Glencoe - St. Pius had a very successful Mission of Love Valentine Project also. Students at St. Pius X Catholic School made 552 valentines and collected $1,005 for San Lucas Toliman. Selling the valentines before and after Masses were some of the 6th grade students (along with their parents) from St. Pius X School.
