Knight’s Tootsie Roll drive in its 25th year

donations help people with intellectual disabilities

This year marks the 25th year of the Minnesota Knights of Columbus Tootsie Roll drive, one of the largest and most successful events in our state. It is dedicated to raising money to help people with intellectual disabilities. This year the Tootsie Roll weekend is April 29-30 and May 1.

Each year, Knights of Columbus councils throughout the state distribute well over 20 tons of Tootsie Rolls on street corners, in stores and at churches. Donations are accepted for the Tootsie Rolls and 100% of the money raised goes to benefit people with intellectual disabilities. Last year over $400,000 was raised and distributed to organizations that help some of Minnesota's most special people.

Nearly all of the over 250 councils in Minnesota participate in this fund raising program. The local councils designate the organizations that are to receive funds raised in their area.

Many local councils designate a portion of the funds raised to support the Fall Classic of the Special Olympics, a three day event, with nearly 1200 athletes and 400 coaches from across the state sponsored entirely by the Minnesota Knights of Columbus. Please watch for the Knights of Columbus Tootsie Rolls in your area.

The Knights of Columbus is the world's largest Catholic, Fraternal, Family, Service organization with nearly 1.7 million members worldwide. For more information about the Knights of Columbus, visit: www.kofc.org or www.mnknights.org
