Let Your Mercy Be On Us theme of upcoming DCCW Convention

by Ellen Nester

NUDCCW President

We are soon to complete the season of Lent...a season in which we have been reminded that God is mercy. Many people have begun the beautiful tradition of praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet, a prayer reminding us to trust in God’s mercy and to come to Him for mercy.

Holy Trinity in Winsted will host this year’s 46th Annual New Ulm Diocesan Council of Catholic Women Convention to be held Saturday, April 24, 2004. This year’s convention theme seems so right...Let Your Mercy Be On Us.

Presenters include:

Fr. John Echert from the St. Paul Seminary, School of Divinity, will speak about "St. Luke-the Gospel of Compassion."

Amy Kuebelbeck, author, will speak on "Waiting with Gabriel-A Story of Cherishing a Baby’s Brief Life." Amy will share the story of losing her child but more so of recognizing grace and beauty in the here and now.

The day will begin with registration at 7:30 a.m. and the General Assembly will start at 8:30 a.m. Fr. Echert will address the convention at 9:00 a.m. Mass will be concelebrated by Bishop John C. Nienstedt and the Council of Catholic Women moderators and priests in attendance at 11:00 a.m. Amy Kuebelbeck will speak at 1:45 p.m.

The convention day also allows "shopping time" as there will be a silent auction from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. along with time to browse the displays related to the six commissions that make up the Council of Catholic Women. The displays will be a source of inspiration and direction, which you, personally or as a CCW group, could participate. The convention will conclude by praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet followed by Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.
