Olivia parish to host 45th annual DCCW Convention
by Ellen Nester, DCCW President
Weve been praying, planning and praying some more. For what? The New Ulm Diocesan Council of Catholic Women Convention on April 26 is fast approaching. This year the parish of St. Aloysius in Olivia will be host to the 45th annual convention. The theme is "Proclaim the Good News."
A wonderful day has been planned, highlighted by the celebration of Mass with Bishop John C. Nienstedt. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. followed by the general assembly, the business meeting, lunch, silent auction, displays (with opportunities to purchase religious items), two speakers, and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.
Speakers for the day:
- Rev. Daniel Durken, OSB, from the Abbey at St. Johns University, will speak at 9:00 a.m. He will address Women and the Ministry of Evangelization.
- Sister Mary Charles Mayer, RSM, New Ulm Diocesan Associate Director of Communications will speak at 1:45 p.m. on Following Christ, the PerfectCommunicator.
Attending the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women Convention is not only a wonderful gift to yourself, but also a great time to renew friendship while celebrating our Catholic traditions. If you have never been to a DCCW Convention, I encourage you to begin the tradition.
See you in Olivia!
