Diocesan festival to mark Jubilee and celebrate RENEW 2000

New Ulm - All the people of the New Ulm diocese are invited to the diocesan Summer Festival to be held August 19, 2001, at the Redwood Falls Community Center.

The Festival is meant to be a celebration of who we are as a diocesan church, the renewal in our faith, the strengthening of our relationship with Jesus and our commitment to live our faith as faithful disciples in service and sacrifice for the life of the world.

The festival day will begin at 1:00 p.m. with the bilingual celebration of the Eucharist. Parish choirs will be invited to form a "festival choir" for Mass.

After Mass, there will be an adult program and age-appropriate children’s activities that will include music, story-telling, and drama. There will be childcare for the very young.

The adult program will be in three parts:

Part I

Part I will be a presentation on our baptismal call to faithful discipleship.

Part II

Part II will include witness talks by several people from parishes sharing their experiences of small faith-sharing groups. This section will also include some favorite music that has been part of diocesan life for the past 25 years.

Part III

Part III will be a time to explore where we are going as pilgrim disciples called to evangelization, just living, and reconciliation in the world.

The day will conclude with a picnic supper.

Presenters will be: for the adult program, Father Dick Rice, Sister Rosemarie Whitehead, and John Buscemi, with music by Marty Haugen, Jaime Cortez, and Donna Pena. Presenters for the children’s program are: Bob Gebhart, Patti Cogley, Sister Pam Donelan and friends.

This Festival promises to be an exciting and enriching time for the New Ulm diocese in the tradition of the diocesan festivals that were enjoyed by so many in the past.
