Catholic Diocese to host “The Empowered
Singer” workshop
Renowned
singer/songwriter Jeanne Cotter, presenter
New Ulm, MN - The
Catholic Diocese of New Ulm is hosting singer and songwriter, Jeanne
Cotter for a workshop entitled “The Empowered Singer”.
The workshop will be from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November
5th at Holy Redeemer Parish in Marshall, MN. It will focus on the needs of vocalists in worship
settings. The day will conclude
with a free-will offering concert by Cotter at 7:00 p.m.
Using the gift of singing, storytelling, songwriting,
and piano performance, Cotter has won the ears, hearts, and souls of
listeners throughout the United States
and Canada
in performance and published music. She is a liturgical musician and
inspirational speaker as well as a successful secular and spiritual
performer and recording artist. Cotter has written and recorded numerous
liturgical music collections with GIA Publications, Chicago,
and Oregon Catholic Press, Portland.
She is the author of the highly acclaimed text, Keyboard Improvisation
for the Liturgical Musician (GIA). Cotter is an invaluable contributor
to the music repertoire of the Catholic Church, has been active as a
“team member” for the North American Forum on the Catechumenate, Washington, DC, has been the master
teacher and coordinator of the Keyboard and Ensemble Schools for the
National Association of Pastoral Musicians, Washington, DC, and has published three all-original
music collections with Mythic Rain Productions, the company she started
in 1993. Her latest work includes the publication of her inspirational
children’s book, Child of the Moon (Mythic Rain).
