Catholic Diocese of New Ulm
to sponsor Children's Holy Field Trip
New Ulm, MN - School
children take field trips for a multitude of educational opportunities.
But, how many of them have taken a holy field trip with a spiritual
intent?
The Most Rev. John C. Nienstedt, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of New
Ulm, will preside over the diocese’s first Children’s Holy Field
Trip to be held at Holy Trinity Cathedral, 605 North State Street
in New Ulm on Thursday, October 7, at 1:00 p.m. Children from throughout
the 15 counties of the diocese will gather to celebrate the Feast
of Our Lady of the Rosary and pray the rosary for life, families,
and family life. Children will participate in Benediction before the
Blessed Sacrament in recognition of the Church’s international celebration
of the Year of the Eucharist . The event gives children the
opportunity to pray for their own families and unite their prayers with
children around the world.
Before or
after the event, some of the groups of children coming for the day plan
to visit points of interest in the New Ulm area such as the recently
renovated Way of the Cross and the Diocesan Pastoral
Center .
Some are planning to also visit St. Mary’s Church in Sleepy Eye.
Children of all
ages are invited to attend and participate. For further information
about the Children’s Holy Field Trip, please contact the New Ulm Diocesan
Office of Schools, (507) 359-2966; cblickem@dnu.org
