News Release #405Released to media on July 20, 2006Bishop of New Ulm Responds to President's Vetoing the Use of Public Funds for Embryonic Stem Cell Research for his courageous affirmation of human
life in vetoing the immoral legislative proposal of the United States
House and Senate which would have funded embryonic stem cell research
with public monies. By his firm leadership, the President has rejected this country’s
reckless slide towards the harvesting of human embryos for commercial
use. The fact of the matter is adult human stem cells, not embryonic
ones, have proven themselves capable of medical cures in a number of
different categories. This is the area that needs to be funded. Destroying
unborn life to satisfy scientific curiosity is as cruel as it is unreasonable.
Politicians are elected to protect society’s common good and gratefully
President Bush has done just that. ![]() Web Weaver:VoyageurWeb |
