New Ulm Catholic Diocese Official Appointments

New Ulm – — Bishop John C. Nienstedt has announced the following official appointments:

Effective July 1, 2002

Reverend John A. Nordick has been assigned by Bishop Kinney to serve as Parochial Administrator of St. Anthony, Browns Valley (Diocese of St. Cloud) for the period of one year.

Effective June 19, 2002

Reverend Edward J. Ardolf to serve as Pastor of St. Paul, Nicollet, and to assist with pastoral responsibilities at St. Mary, New Ulm.

Reverend Harry P. Behan to serve as Parochial Administrator of St. Dionysius, Tyler, and St. Genevieve, Lake Benton.

Reverend John G. Berger to serve as Administrator Pro-tem of St. Michael, Gaylord and St. Francis de Sales, Winthrop.

Reverend Richard G. Bonin to retire from the active ministry.

Reverend John H. Brunner to serve as Pastor of St. Anthony, Watkins.

Reverend Francis J. Garvey to serve as Pastor of Our Lady, Manannah, with other Diocesan responsibilities.

Reverend Douglas L. Grams to serve as Vicar General, Director of Priest Personnel, and Bishop’s Delegate in Matters Pertaining to Sexual Misconduct while remaining Pastor of St. Mary, New Ulm.

Reverend Gerald A. Hillesheim to serve as Pastor of St. Andrew, Fairfax, St. Willibrord, Gibbon, and Sacred Heart, Franklin.

Reverend Dennis C. Labat to serve as Pastor of St. Raphael, Springfield, Sacramental Minister of St. Thomas, Sanborn, and Supervisor of Pastoral Administrators.

Reverend Mark S. Mallak to serve as Chancellor while remaining Pastor of St. Philip, Litchfield.

Reverend A. Melchizedech to serve as Parochial Vicar of St. Andrew, Fairfax, Sacred Heart, Franklin and St. Willibrord, Gibbon.

Reverend Andrew J. Michels to serve as Pastor of St. Edward, Minneota and Sacramental Minister of St. Eloi, Ghent and Ss. Cyril and Methodius, Taunton, while continuing as Boy Scout Chaplain.

Reverend Brian W. Oestreich to serve as Pastor of St. Mary, Sleepy Eye.

Reverend John A. Pearson to serve as Pastor of St. Anne, Wabasso, St. Mary, Seaforth, St. Mathias, Wanda, and Sacramental Minister for Our Lady of Victory, Lucan.

Reverend Samuel Perez to serve as Parochial Vicar of St. Mary, Sleepy Eye.

Reverend Todd J. Petersen to serve as Pastor of Japanese Martyrs, Leavenworth and Sacramental Minister of St. Paul, Comfrey.

Reverend Celestine C. Pistulka to retire from the active ministry.

Reverend Jose Pynadath to serve as Parochial Vicar of St. Anastasia, Hutchinson.

Reverend John A. Richter to serve as Rector of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, New Ulm.

Reverend George V. Schmit to serve as Pastor of St. Mary, Bird Island, and Sacramental Minister of St. John, Hector.

Reverend Philip M. Schotzko to serve as Pastor of St. Peter, St Peter.

Reverend William A. Sprigler to serve as Pastor of St. Boniface, Stewart, while continuing responsibilities as Pastor of St. Anastasia, Hutchinson.

Reverend Anthony J. Stubeda to serve as Parochial Vicar of St. Mary, Willmar, while continuing responsibility for the Diocesan Office of Hispanic Ministry.

Effective May 20, 2002

Reverend Brian R. Thurn has been granted a leave of absence from the active ministry for the period of one year.
