New Ulm – Bishop Raymond A. Lucker, Bishop of the Diocese of New Ulm, announced the following official appointments
Effective June 28, 2000 Rev. William H. Bowles to serve as Pastor of the Church of St. Patrick in Kandiyohi and Pastor of the Church of St. Thomas More in Lake Lillian, and to be available for assisting at St. Mary in Willmar. Rev. Patrick L. Casey to serve as Pastor of the Church of St. John in Darwin and Sacramental Minister of the Church of St. Gertrude in Forest City. Rev. James W. Devorak to serve as Pastor of the Church of St. Joseph in Montevideo and Pastor of the Church of St. Andrew in Granite Falls. Rev. Francis J. Garvey to serve half-time as Director of Priest Personnel and as Bishop’s Delegate in Matters Pertaining to Sexual Misconduct, while continuing as Parochial Administrator of the Church of Our Lady in Manannah and ministry at the Willmar Regional Treatment Center. Rev. Gerald A. Hillesheim to serve as Pastor of the Church of St. Eloi in Ghent while continuing as Pastor of the Church of St. Edward in Minneota and Sacramental Minister of the Church of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Taunton Rev. Ronald V. Huberty to serve as Sacramental Minister of the Church of St. Clara in Clara City while continuing as Pastor of the Church of the Sacred Heart in Murdock and Sacramental Minister of the Church of the Visitation in Danvers, the Church of St. Bridget in DeGraff, and the Church of St. Malachy in Clontarf. Rev. Dennis C. Labat to serve half-time as Pastor of the Church of St. Raphael in Springfield and as Sacramental Minister of the Church of St. Thomas in Sanborn, while continuing as Vicar General and Supervisor of Pastoral Administrators. Rev. Mark S. Mallak to serve as Pastor of the Church of St. Philip in Litchfield while continuing responsibilities with the Tribunal. Rev. Brian L. Mandel to serve as Pastor of the Church of St. Mary in Tracy, as Pastor of the Church of St. Paul in Walnut Grove, and as Sacramental Minister of the Church of St. Joseph in Lamberton. Rev. Andrew J. Michels to serve as Senior Associate of the Church of St. Anastasia in Hutchinson. Rev. Peter C. Nosbush to serve as Pastor of the Church of the Holy Rosary in North Mankato. Rev. Brian W. Oestreich to serve as Pastor of the Church of the Japanese Martyrs in Leavenworth, as Sacramental Minister of the Church of St. Paul in Comfrey, to provide help at the Church of St. Mary in Sleepy Eye, while continuing as Director of Vocations for the Diocese of New Ulm one quarter time. Rev. Jerome E. Paulson to serve as Pastor of the Church of St. Mary in Arlington and Sacramental Minister of the Church of St. Joseph in Henderson. Rev. Celestine C. Pistulka to serve as Pastor of the Church of St. Michael in Milroy while continuing as Senior Associate of the Church of the Holy Redeemer in Marshall. Rev. John A. Richter to serve as Pastor of the Church of Our Lady of Victory in Lucan and Pastor of the Church of St. Mathias in Wanda, while continuing as Pastor of the Church of St. Anne in Wabasso and Pastor of the Church of St. Mary in Seaforth. Rev. Paul A. Schumacher to serve as Pastor of the Church of St. Peter in Canby and Pastor of the Church of St. Leo in St. Leo, while continuing in AIDS/HIV ministry. Rev. William A. Sprigler to serve as Pastor of the Church of St. Anastasia in Hutchinson and Sacramental Minister of the Church of St. Boniface in Stewart. Rev. Msgr. Arthur S. Thomas to retire from active ministry. Rev. Brian R. Thurn to take a short-term leave of absence. Rev. Paul H. van de Crommert to serve as Pastor of the Church of St. Aloysius in Olivia and Sacramental Minister of the Church of the Holy Redeemer in Renville. Rev. Steven J. Verhelst to serve as Sacramental Minister of the Church of St. Clara in Clara City while continuing as Pastor of the Church of St. Francis in Benson and Sacramental Minister of the Church of the Visitation in Danvers, the Church of St. Bridget in DeGraff, and the Church of St. Malachy in Clontarf. Effective July 1, 2000 Rev. James D. Barry to retire from active ministry. Rev. Dennis E. Becker to retire from active ministry. Rev. Merle W. Monnens to retire from active ministry. Parish Cluster changes occurring with the new appointments Effective June 28, 2000 * Granite Falls and Montevideo will be clustered. * Clara City will be clustered with Benson, Clontarf, Danvers, DeGraff and Murdock. * Marshall will be clustered with Milroy. * Comfrey, Leavenworth, and Sleepy Eye will be clustered.

Lucan, Seaforth, Wabasso, and Wanda will be clustered. There will
be four weekend Masses
scheduled in this cluster.
* Lamberton, Tracy, and Walnut Grove will be clustered.
