News Release #412Released to media on April 27, 2007Catholic Diocese of New Ulm to Co-sponsor Immigration Conference
The purpose of the conference is to: Help understand more clearly the plight of the immigrant; Educate about the Catholic social teaching on immigration and migration, and; Create political will for positive comprehensive immigration reform.
As the public debate continues over whether to or how to fix the broken immigration system, it is important that we grow in our own education, awareness, and call to respond.
The day’s events will include an option of several sessions such as “Debunking Immigration Myths,” “Globalization and Immigration,” and “Comprehensive Immigration Reform,” as well as a panel of immigrants who will share their own story of immigration.
