Willmar, MN - A
Small Body of Determined Spirits, an original play by Illusion
Theatre of Minneapolis, will be performed honoring the memory of
peace activist, the late Bishop Raymond A. Lucker at The Barn Theatre
in Willmar, Thursday, April 24, 2003 at 7:30 p.m. The project is the
work of Pax Christi Minnesota, a member of Pax Christi USA, a
national Catholic peace organization. Pax Christi Minnesota received
a $10,000 grant from the Sexton Family Foundation and consulted with
Michael Robins, executive producer and director of Illusion Theatre
to commission a play engaging people in discussion of war and peace
issues. The play takes its title from the words of Gandhi in 1938,
"A small body of determined spirits fired by an unquenchable
faith in their mission can alter the course of history."
The Willmar performance honors Raymond A. Lucker, second Bishop of
the Diocese of New Ulm, who served as Episcopal Moderator for the
Minnesota Chapter of Pax Christi USA from its establishment in 1982
until his death, September 2001. Shortly before his death, Bishop
Lucker received the Ambassador of Peace Award, Pax Christis
highest award.
An audience discussion, co-facilitated by members of Illusion
Theatre and Pax Christi Minnesota, will follow the performance. There
will be a free will offering, seating is limited, and reservations
are required.
