New Ulm Catholic Diocese to celebrate conferral
of papal honors of the title "Monsignor" to 5 area priests
New Ulm, MN -
In December of 2005,
the Most Rev. John C. Nienstedt, bishop of the Catholic Diocese of New
Ulm, made the announcement that five priests of the diocese had been
given papal honors of the title “Monsignor” by
Pope Benedict XVI. A diocesan celebration of this conferral is
scheduled for Sunday, February 26, 2006, at 3:00 p.m. at the Church of St. Mary, New Ulm, MN. The public is welcome
to attend.
Priests receiving papal honors are:
Rev. Douglas L. Grams, currently pastor of the Church of St. Mary, New Ulm; Vicar General for the diocese;
Episcopal Vicar for regions 1 and 6; Director of Priest Personnel, and
the Bishop’s Delegate in Matters Pertaining to Sexual Misconduct, has
been named a Prelate of Honor with the title “Monsignor.”
Named Chaplains to His Holiness, also with the title “Monsignor”
are: Rev. Francis J. Garvey,
pastor of the Church of Our Lady
in Manannah, Rev. Eugene L. Lozinski,
pastor of the Church of St. Pius X in Glencoe as well as Chancellor
of the diocese, the Bishop’s Delegate for the Permanent Diaconate, Associate
Judge of the Diocesan Tribunal, and Moderator for the Diocesan Council
of Catholic Women; Rev. John A. Richter, rector of the Cathedral
of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm and parochial administrator of the Church
of St. John, Searles; and Rev. Robert J. Wyffels, pastor of the Church of St. Michael in Morgan
and sacramental minister of the Church of St. Joseph, Clements, and
co-sacramental minister of the Church of St. Joseph, Lamberton.
