Bishop John C. Nienstedt calls for Prayers for Pope John Paul II

New Ulm, MN - The Most Reverend John C. Nienstedt, bishop of the Catholic Diocese of New Ulm, called for prayers for Pope John Paul II shortly after the pope was hospitalized in Rome with breathing difficulties and the flu.

“I ask all Catholics in the fifteen counties of our Diocese to offer prayers for the health of our Holy Father, Pope John Paul II. In my meeting with him on December 9^th, I was struck by the deterioration of his physical condition.

I ask that we rally in support of him now as he has served us so lovingly and with such tireless dedication these past twenty six years. Sto lat!”
