When St. Joseph Parish in Lamberton discovered last summer that the problem with
its cordless microphone would not be able to be repaired, they experienced a
dilemma: how to find $730. At the same time an announcement of a grant from
Oregon Catholic Press for liturgical needs was received. The simple form was
filled out asking for the $730 needed. Since the grant recipients would not
be announced until spring of 2009, the matter was eventually forgotten. Then in February a letter
arrived from OCP, which Pastoral Administrator, Sr. Judi Angst, assumed was a
bill. To her delight it was, instead, a letter from John J. Limb, Publisher,
announcing that Archbishop John Vlazny and the
Board of Oregon Catholic Press were awarding St. Joseph Parish of Lamberton a check in the amount of $1,000. The parish was
one of 69 chosen out of nearly 400 applications from parishes large and small
across the United States. The check has now been received and the parish will now
be able to substantially improve its sound system and without fund-raising or
dipping into parish money. |
