Update on H1N1 Precautions
December 2009
The Diocese of New Ulm has not directed that any liturgical
changes be made related the H1N1 virus.
On December 10, 2009
the following directives were communicated to the parishes.
The H1N1 virus seems to have slowed down considerably in our
area. According to the Minnesota Department
of Health, there has been just one hospitalization for the virus in our area
during in the week of 11/22-11/28, compared to 83 hospitalizations during the
weeks of 9/1/-11/28. Given this new information, parishes that have
decided to omit the Sign of Peace and/or the distribution of the chalice are
asked to reinstate these practices by the Christmas Season.
